Welcome . . .

Founded in 1888, KCMS started as an organization to assist with public health problems, establish acceptable standards of medical practice in the county, and credential physicians.

Today, with nearly 3,300 members, KCMS continues to promote the interests of physicians and their patients through self-governance, public advocacy and community partnerships.

KCMS is a charter member of the AMA and one of the largest county societies in the United States. It works closely with the Washington State Medical Association on matters of importance statewide.

Whooping_coughPERTUSSIS  /  WHOOPING COUGH  VACCINATIONS URGED!

During a recent news conference, Health Department officials said they want health-care providers to encourage their patients to get vaccinated.

"We are taking measures in this state for an epidemic that is emerging," Secretary of Health Mary Selecky said. The vaccine is "the best shot at protecting our community."

Selecky urged vaccinations for teens and adults. Officials noted that vaccination is especially important for those in close contact with babies less than 1 year old.
